A new series dedicated to contemporary visual artists

There are six essential names of Portuguese artists, including Paula Rego (1935–2022), the artist who kicks off this series with a piece that pays homage to her powerful visual and narrative universe.

More than an artist, an active voice

Obverse: Portrait of the artist accompanied by the evocative phrase «Deixa-me pintar-te uma história» (Let me paint a story for you).

Reverse: Two arms inspired by her favorite work, The Angel (1998) - one wielding a sword, the other one a sponge - symbols of pain, redemption, and creative power.
