The 2 euro coin weighs 8.5 grams and has a diameter of 25.75 mm. It is made of two alloys: brass-nickel on the inner circle and copper-nickel on the outer ring. The common side was designed by Luc Luycx, a Belgian artist who won an European competition. Since 2004, 2 euro commemorative coins have been minted and issued by the eurozone countries.
