The Old City of Salamanca is a living testimony of centuries of history, culture and architecture. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988, this city is a hotbed of knowledge and monumental beauty.
The Convent of San Esteban
One of the most impressive treasures of the Old City is the Convent of San Esteban, the subject of the commemorative 2 euro coin that will be issued in Spain in 2025. This Dominican convent, founded in 1524, is a jewel of the Spanish Plateresque style, with a façade that is a true stone altarpiece.
