Portugal 2021 2€ Presidency PROOF

The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2021 is part of the Strategic Agenda for the period 2019-2024, which favors the strengthening of the European model in the world, with the aim of promoting the interests of citizens, companies and societies, and the way European lifestyles.

The Covid-19 pandemic, which plagued the world in 2020, has given Portugal greater responsibility for defining priorities and specific lines of action for the first half of 2021: recovering the economy and collective damage; develop the pillar of social rights in the European Union; and to strengthen the strategic autonomy of a Europe open to the world.

"Time to act: for a fair, green and digital recovery" is the motto of this 4th Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which aims to promote European values, resilience and interests in the global context.

This commemorative coin therefore assumes the added importance of reminding the relevant mission of the Portuguese Presidency to all those who circulate it throughout the Eurozone.
