Monaco’s 2026 commemorative 2-euro coin is dedicated to the Duchy of Valentinois, an ancient historical title associated with the House of Grimaldi.
The design features the bell tower of the Collegiate Church of Sainte-Croix in Montélimar, a city historically linked to the duchy. On the right, heraldic elements associated with the Grimaldi family and the city are displayed, while the inscriptions "MONACO," "2026," and "DUCHÉ DE VALENTINOIS" identify this commemorative issue.
The title of Duke of Valentinois was granted in 1642 by King Louis XIII of France to Prince Honoré II of Monaco, marking an important chapter in the historical relations between the French monarchy and the Monegasque princely family.
